What is double chin?

Double chin, also known as submental fat, is a pocket of fat and loose skin under the chin. It often can make individuals appear overweight even if they are not. It can be a result of weight gain – but is also a common area for stubborn fat. Stubborn fat is a form of fat that is difficult to reduce despite diet and exercise. Stubborn fat can be affected by genetics and other factors. If you’re having trouble getting rid of double chin, or if you are self-conscience about chin fat, there are some very effective non-surgical treatments available, such as CoolSculpting® and THERMIsmooth®. Another great way to get rid of double chin is Kybella®!

What is Kybella®?

Kybella® is the only FDA approved-injectable that destroys fat cells under the chin. The active ingredient in the injection is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is naturally occurring in the body and aids in the absorption and breakdown of dietary fat. When doexycholic acid is injected under the chin, it breaks down and destroys fat cells. Because double chin is commonly caused by stubborn fat, once these cells are destroyed, they rarely return. This makes Kybella not only fast acting – but also a permanent solution for stubborn double chin. Further treatment is not expected after Kybella®.

How Does It Work?

Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist. The specialist will first examine your chin, lifestyle, and desired profile to determine if Kybella is right for you. Anne Therese offers free Kyeblla consultations in Gahanna, OH.

If the treatment is determined to be a good fit for you, it is administered as a series of small injections under the chin. The treatment is quick and only takes about 15-20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on your current chin profile and your desired results. Most patients require a series of sessions over a 6 month period; each session 1 month apart. No more than 6 sessions should be needed to reach the desired permanent result.

Will I Need Time To Recover?

Because Kybella is a non-surgical treatment, very little recovery time is needed, if any. Most patients return to their life as usual after treatment.

What Are The Side Effects?

Most patients have few side effects from the treatment. Those who are sensitive to injections or bruising may experience redness, swelling, bruising, soreness, or area of hardness around the injection site. In a few rare cases, side effects can include nerve damage, trouble swallowing, and open sores. Generally, the treatment is safe and is considered a less risky alternative to surgical treatments, such as liposuction.

Is It For Me? How Much Does It Cost?

Kybella is most ideal for individuals who already practice a healthy balance of diet and exercise. It has been proven effective at destroying stubborn chin fat while being a more affordable and less risky alternative to surgery. Each individual has a different chin profile and requires a different level of treatment. The best way to understand the costs is to request a free consultation with a specialist. Anne Therese is proud to offer special financing options – beauty should be affordable for everyone!
