Q: What is Restylane Silk?
A: Restylane Silk is the newest filler on the market. This hyaluronic-acid based injectable is FDA-approved for plumping lips and filling wrinkles around the mouth. Anne T. Stubbs, MD, was selected by Galderma, the makers of Restylane products, as a national trainer for Restylane Silk and has the training and product available right now for patient treatments.
Q: How is Restylane Silk different from other fillers that have been used to plump lips?
A: Most fillers that have been used to plump up lips are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body. Restylane Silk made of smaller, smoother particles than those used in other Restylane products. The smaller particles in the gel are designed to provide natural looking results when restoring lip volume. Patients do not have to fear over-plumped lips and can get very natural, younger looking lips.
Q: How does it work?
A: Our natural supply of hyaluronic acid tends to diminish as we age; and the lips and skin surrounding the mouth show the signs of aging in lip thinning, shape loss, and an increase in the vertical lines above the lip. The addition of the natural hyaluronic acid draws moisture to the lip area, plumping the lips and diminishing the wanted lip lines.
Q: How soon will patients see results and how long will the results last?
A: The results are immediate and will last for months!
Q: Are there any side effects?
A: The most common side effect is temporary swelling and occasionally bruising.
